O Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama e o seu glorioso centroavante Ademir Marques de Menezes não se entendiam quando o tema era enfiar a mão no cofre. Cada um falava uma língua. Caçoava o texto: "Imaginem a surpresa de um mercador de escravas de Bagdá, abastecedor do harém dos emires e dos paxás... veterano na compra das mais lindas beduínas... imaginem o espanto desse homem, ao desembarcar (no Rio de Janeiro) e ao saber das últimas notícias da cidade...O mercador voltará para Bagdá... e contará..."Vim de uma terra chamada Brasil, onde os homens alcançam preços que nunca alcançará a mais linda pérola morena de Bassora"...E Ninguém o acreditará.
